I would like to use my new "Re" to control my Pioneer VSX-520 receiver. There doesn't seem to be a device registered that works with it. Never mind, I've picked an existing device that looks a little like the remote and attempted to teach it the codes using my existing remote control. It learns the buttons OK, but they only work intermittently, and only when I'm less than about 1 m or 3 ft from the receiver.

Any chance of getting the codes for my receiver registered, or any clues above what is in the manual that may make my teaching of the "re" the codes of my receiver more successful.

PS: I have successfully programed codes for my DViCO DD4 dual DVB tuner.

Do some of the buttons for your VSX-520 work with one of the current IR Codes? Pioneer generally reuses codes, so I would expect one to partially work. If so, do the stored codes work with the receiver at a distance? Or possibly something is partially blocking the Pioneer's IR receiver. Learned codes should work like the stored codes with respect to distance.

Email your room setup with the Pioneer and DViCo devices, and we can check the IR codes as well as add your DViCo tuner to the IR Codes for your backup and other users. Use the email settings tool and send to support@newkinetix.com

Hi,

There is a custom code that is a match for the Pioneer VSX-520.

Brand: Pioneer
Type: Audio Receiver
IR Code: 2013-1

Please give this a try and let me know if it works for you.

Best Regards,

Hello,
Thanks for your help.
Some of the codes for the 2013-1 do work, significantly the Power codes do not, thats why I missed it.
I programmed the power button using the original remote. That worked the first time I tested it, then every second or so tries. Then when I went out of the editing suite I cannot get it to work at all.
This was all at a distance of about 4 – 5 m. BTW, the IR receiver on the amp is not obstructed at all, the original remote works fine at a distance of 10 m. The model number of the original remote is "AXD5787", and I'm in Australia, checking the back of the A/V receiver its full model number is "VSX-520-K".

The codes that I found to work were "BD", "-", "Atapter", "Re-triever", "Signal Sel", " Auto Direct", "Stereo", "Stand", "Adv Surr", "Audio Param", "Set Up", "+ BASS", "- BASS", "+TREBLE", "- TREBLE", "Midnight", "Speakers", "Phase", "Dimmer". I tried each one 2 or 3 times.

I've only just started setting up my "room", so the programming of my remotes is not complete. I only have a few of the DViCo tuner codes programmed, I'll get the rest done and send the lot to you asap.

Does the power key work if you touch and hold them? Do the number keys work? How about volumn keys? Again does touching and holding the button make a difference?

Holding the buttons down does the trick! Only the keys I mentioned worked with a single touch.
Touching then holding down the button for something like a second does the trick, every button I've tried like that works. Thanks so much for the tip. Can I adjust the transmission length for a single touch?

I see from the manual that I can extend the transmit time when setting up macros. I'll let you know how I go and send you the completed room in a day or so. Thanks so much for you help and quick response.

Peter.

I've sent support@newkinetix.com a copy of the codes and layout for a DViCo Fusion HDTV dual digital 4 tuner card for a PC. It includes all the buttons for both version 1 & 2. The Layout is an amalgamation of both versions of the remote, I think an improvement on both.

Regards Peter.
