I have the above cable box (Virgin Media is the provider) and neither the Virgin or Scientific Atlanta codes work. All my other devices work so don't think I'm doing anything wrong. Please help.

Hi,
I am searching for the correct codes for your cable box, and will load them if they are available. Meanwhile, you should be able to teach the Re the IR codes. Refer to the learning instructions in the online manual on http://www.newkinetix.com/support. Let me know if you can learn the codes.

Have tried learning codes on another device with success. Am aware of sensitive nature of alignment so have carefully tried with the Scientific Atlanta but no luck. The Re is a fantastic gadget and so far have combined 8 remotes on it – would just be good to get the last one on there ! Let me know if you have any luck finding the codes. Many thanks.

Hi,
You should be able to learn the keys. Pay special attention to the spacing and angle shown in the manual. Also sometimes it is difficult to locate the actual LED if it is behind a colored window. The LEDs must line up to learn. The other common issue is weak batteries in the original remote. I have not found codes for the Scientific Atlanta 4000DVB for Virgin, but I found the model for another network. We'll load that setup to see if it will work.

We have added a custom remote setup for the Scientific Atlanta, Cable Box, 0477-1. It supports various models including the 4200 and 4000DVB.

Many thanks for you perseverance. If I load the new code and press a button about ten times it will work but is very hit and miss. In terms of alignment with the original remote I even went so far as removing the plastic shield to aid alignment although slightly confusingly there are 3 bulbs on the original remote. Maybe it is just not to be !

Hmmmm. Did you try several buttons on the learned remote with the same result? That is an odd behavior, like there is some interference or signal strength issue. Make sure and direct the Re toward the cable box at the 45 degree angle and see if distance to the receiver makes any difference.
Learning: Since your original remote has 3 diodes, they are probably sending out different shapes of IR beam. You might try learning from some slightly larger distance separations, like 1 inch, 2 inches, 4 inches to see if it helps. Another thing to try is to just press and release the button on the original remote instead of holding it through the learn process.
