Seems impossible to program "switch to" TV/cable/DVD/aux

Say I'm watching cable then want to switch to DVD. On my real TV remote, I either hit Input then 4, or press a dedicated DVD button for two seconds. Can't program Re to do latter since max length of transmission in a macro is 1 sec. I copied the Input button to the Cable remote, and if I'm watching cable, and hit the Input button, the inputs menu choices come up, but the number buttons are ignored, presumably because it needs to be the number buttons from the TV remote, not the cable remote.

On an activity remote, I created a dedicated DVD button which uses a macro with the first button being the Input button from the Tv remote, and the second being the 4 button from the TV remote. But it didn't work either. As before, the Input menu comes up, but the number button is ignored. I tried various transmission lengths for both of the buttons in the macro, but it didn't work.

Any ideas? Thanks! Keith

Hi Keith,
I think you are on the right track. On the TV device remote in the Re can you press the Input button followed by the 4 button and have it work like on the original remote? If that works, then you should be able to replicate that in a macro in the Activity remote. Since the Input menu comes up, but the 4 button is ignored, you probably need to add some delay between the two macro steps. Select the Delays device in Macro edit and try some values that cover the time for the TV to display the inputs menu and be ready to accept the number selection key. You may also need to add an "enter" or "select" key after the 4 button to complete the input selection command. Let me know if that works.

Well if you spend 8 nours searching every TV,DVD.devce etc going you CAN find the static HDMI Component1,2 etc to imbed in the macros. It was not easy. Now all that has to be done is spend another day figuring out the delays so that ALL OFF and START functions work as they are supposed to. The software need more work.
